Oral Hygiene Day Celebration Report – 2025
As part of the Oral Hygiene Day 2025 celebrations, the Department of Periodontology, MCODS, Mangalore, organized multiple community outreach programs aimed at promoting oral health awareness and preventive dental care.
1. Screening and Treatment Camp (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities)
- Date & Venue: 27.07.2025 | SVT Volunteer's Association, Mangalore
- Organized by: Department of Periodontology, in collaboration with the Department of Public Health Dentistry and Patient Care Committee of MCODS, Mangalore .
- Highlights: The camp provided free dental screening and basic treatments for the attendees. Around 80 patients were examined, and counseling on oral hygiene maintenance was provided.

2. Oral Care Awareness for Women (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 5: Gender Equality)
- Date & Venue: 28.07.2025 | GSB Mahila Vranda, Car Street, Mangalore
- Organized by: Department of Periodontology
- Resource Person: Dr. Sangeeta Nayak
- Session Details: The talk focused on oral health issues and their management across different life stages in women—children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric women. The session witnessed active participation with around 100 attendees, leading to an insightful discussion on preventive oral care and treatment options.
3. Guest Lecture at A.B. Shetty Dental College (SDG 3 Good Health & Well-Being &SDG 4Quality Education)

? Impact: The session enriched dental students and faculty with insights on the preventive role of oral hygiene in modern dentistry, fostering collaborative academic exchange.

4. School Oral Health Awareness Program (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 4: Quality Education)
- Date & Venue: 01.08.2025 | Lourdes Central School, Bejai
- Organized by: Department of Periodontology
- Activities Conducted:
- Poster Competition: Open to 7th standard students; 20 participants (10 teams) showcased their creativity on oral hygiene themes.
- Elocution Competition: Conducted for 5th and 6th-grade students; 60 participants delivered speeches emphasizing the importance of oral care.
- Drama Club Role Play: Interns performed an engaging role play to instill good oral hygiene habits among children.
- The program successfully spread oral health messages to school children in an interactive and memorable way.

The success of these events was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the Department of Periodontology’s faculty, postgraduate students, and interns, who worked together as a cohesive team. Their commitment ensured that the Oral Hygiene Day celebrations reached diverse community groups and effectively promoted the importance of maintaining healthy oral practices.
